“I wanted to design a multipurpose chair with a visual simplicity and unique recline mechanism that would allow it to be used anywhere and by anyone.”
Todd Bracher, Designer
As the line between home and office blurs, workplace design is increasingly informed by residential design. Visionary Designer Todd Bracher’s response to this new era is Trea. While creating this unique multipurpose chair, he investigated how nature had solved the problem of integrated articulation. He was inspired by the lobster shell: an exoskeleton that moves in harmony with the living organism it protects. By following the cues of this natural design, he arrived at a solution that perfectly responds to the human body’s desire to move and recline, without knobs, dials, and levers: a groundbreaking “solid state” recline mechanism that adapts seamlessly and intuitively to sitters of all sizes. The final product is a universal chair that speaks a design language at once modern and timeless.
