Humanscale Welcomes Global Director of Research and Design George Kordaris
Industry Veteran Takes on New Role with Ergonomics Company
NEW YORK — Humanscale, the designer and manufacturer of ergonomic solutions for home, work and healthcare spaces, welcomes George Kordaris back as the company’s global director of research and design. An industry veteran, Kordaris has worked in a number of high-level positions at various companies, such as Vitra, Knoll and Herman Miller. At Humanscale, Kordaris will oversee the Humanscale Design Studio, composed of more than 40 engineers, designers and prototypists, and work with outside designers at the company’s headquarters in NYC.
“In my new role, I will help facilitate the process of getting each product to market as brilliantly as it was designed,” Kordaris said.
Of Kordaris’ appointment, Founder and CEO Robert King said, “George has spent his career as a student of design and he has a deep understanding and appreciation for Humanscale’s design heritage. We look forward to George enhancing our position as the leader in ergonomics and innovation in the work space.”
Kordaris comes to Humanscale after a storied career with various companies. His first job was fixing chairs at Knoll, and he eventually rose through the ranks to become vice president of Knoll International, spending 12 years with the company. He continued to take on challenging roles as he approached new positions at Vecta and Vitra. Following his tenure at Vitra, he co-founded the popular industry trade publication Officeinsight. He then went on to lead the A & D program at Herman Miller, and found his way to Humanscale, serving as president of Humanscale International for more than eight years. In between his current and former positions with Humanscale, Kordaris was CEO of Moroso and was an industry consultant.
Kordaris earned a PMD from Harvard Business School and studied history at UCLA. In 2004, he was nominated by Niels Diffrient and named a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
