Humanscale Introduces New Nap Rest in APAC

New Addition to Diffrient World Chair Provides Ergonomic Comfort for Afternoon Naps at Work

Humanscale, the leader in ergonomic tools for work, introduces the new Nap Rest, exclusively within the APAC market. While after-lunch naps are common in this region, chairs that accommodate both working and napping are not. Many workers will rest their heads on their desks or fashion makeshift headrests for their task chairs, putting them in non-ergonomic positions that could lead to long term discomfort. The new Humanscale Nap Rest was developed to provide comfort and ergonomic support for professionals during afternoon naps.

Designed to work in tandem with Humanscale’s Diffrient World chair, Nap Rest provides cradle-like support for rest periods during the workday. Traditional headrests are designed to keep a person’s eyes fixed forward on a computer screen, rather than allowing them to recline. Humanscale’s Nap Rest, however, only engages the sitter when they recline at least 50%, offering support for rest periods while remaining unobtrusive throughout the rest of the workday. The curvature doesn’t force the head upward, but instead places it in a comfortable resting position.

Traditional headrests try to accommodate all users with the use of adjustment features which, ergonomists find, many people do not use as they can be confusing to untrained users. And while most headrests are designed to accommodate all chairs, they are often don’t fit exactly and can create unintended motion. Alternatively, the Nap Rest was designed exclusively for the Diffrient World chair and eliminates all adjustment features while still being able to accommodate 90% of users. Throughout its testing process, Humanscale designers discovered that users found the Nap Rest significantly more comfortable than adjustable headrests. The perfect fit between the Diffrient World chair and the Nap Rest eliminates unintended motion and makes it incredibly stable and secure. It seamlessly extends from the Diffrient World chair with a streamlined profile and comes with color and textile options to match.

At launch, Humanscale’s Nap Rest will be available in Asia, including Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Japan, South Korea, India, Thailand, Malaysia and Taiwan.
