NEW YORK, June 5, 2014 - Humanscale, the pioneer of workplace ergonomics, today announced two new partnerships with acclaimed industrial designers Don Chadwick and Todd Bracher. The company will be unveiling two new multipurpose seating products at NeoCon, one designed by Chadwick and the other designed by Bracher. Both designers will be hosting talks in the Humanscale showroom at the Chicago Merchandise Mart during NeoCon.

These new partnerships represent the next generation of Humanscale's designer collaborations. Humanscale’s design philosophy is known for ease of use, performance and simplicity. “Our two new seating introductions represent a natural evolution of our product line,” said Humanscale Founder and CEO Bob King. “Don’s and Todd’s designs both further the legacy of innovation at Humanscale while still adhering to our core principles of function and simplicity.”

BALLO
Created by legendary designer Don Chadwick, the Ballo stool is a multipurpose stool for short-term, active sitting. It can be customized in a variety of fun, vibrant colors to complement any setting. It is composed of a spool-shaped central column that supports two identical air-filled domes that form the base and the seat. Drawing inspiration from the playfulness of the exercise ball, the Ballo stool is well-suited for both professional and residential settings. It also promotes low intensity physical activity and helps to reduce sedentary behavior. It features a counterweight in its base, ensuring it will remain upright. Its lightweight construction (15 lbs.) and integrated hand-holds encourage users to move it around the office for impromptu meetings and other collaborative purposes.

The Ballo stool has non-slip, dimpled domes that are made with a thermoplastic elastomer material, rather than the industry standard of PVC that can off-gas, making the stool environmentally friendly. The product will be available in Q4 2014. U.S. list pricing for it starts at $399.

TREA

Designed by two time International Designer of the Year nominee Todd Bracher, the Trea chair is a multipurpose sitting solution appropriate for a wide variety of spaces, such as conference rooms, collaboration spaces, cafeterias or as a side chair in the workplace, a modern dining seat, living room guest chair or office chair in the home.

Built with an innovative solid state recline mechanism that automatically maintains control for the sitter without the need for adjusting, the Trea chair provides up to 12 degrees of recline to the user for a balanced posture whether engaged or in a relaxed position. Designed to harmoniously integrate with surroundings rather than overpower them, it features a contoured backrest that supports the body’s natural curves and provides lumbar support.

Available in a number of finishes and base styles (four-leg, four-star and cantilever), the Trea chair can be customized for any setting. It will be available Q4 2014. U.S. list pricing starts at $499. Four-star base and four-leg base chairs can be configured with casters, and an upholstered seat option will also be made available.

To celebrate the introduction of these two new products, Humanscale will host informal talks at NeoCon with designers Todd Bracher and Don Chadwick as part of a series of conversations with industry leaders in the company's Chicago Merchandise Mart showroom (#351) on Monday, June 9 and Tuesday, June 10.
