Cinimod Studio: Lighting to Engage and Delight Tuesday, May 21 1:00 p.m.
Dominic Harris will share his inspirations and draws from his previous work, such as the UFO over Rio and the London Eye Mood Conductor, to discuss colour, movement in lighting and human interaction with lighting. In addition, he will talk about emerging lighting technology and how it will be used in the future.

DOMINIC HARRIS
Founder and Creative Director of Cinimod Studio Dominic Harris has a strong fascination with lighting and electronics. His projects—which range from interactive lighting sculptures to indoor lighting installations—have garnered international acclaim.

‘Eclipse’ by Cinimod Studio is a new interactive light installation which will be unveiled in the Humanscale Showroom as part of Clerkenwell Design Week. The installation was inspired by the design ethos of Humanscale, and in particular their focus on task lighting. ‘Eclipse’ plays on the concept of ‘task lighting’ by providing localised lighting that tracks the participant. The installation is based on nine of Cinimod Studio’s new ‘Pacifico Ring’ interactive chandeliers. Each ring creates a circular band of animated light that mimics a solar eclipse. The collective light experience allows visitors to interact with the visual moments seen within an eclipse, and view the sun’s movement as they walk through the gallery space. Light will respond in real time to the movement of people. As the visitor tours the exhibition, lights will swirl around the rings. Shadow and light will create waves of movements that follow participants through the exhibition creating one fluid light show.

Dominic Harris of Cinimod Studio said, “I am continuously fascinated by the interaction between users, their environment and light. Interaction is an essential part of all of the projects undertaken by Cinimod Studio. ‘Eclipse’ embodies all of these aspects and seeks to capture the imagination of visitors with the intriguing interplay between the illuminated eclipses above their heads and the projected lighting patterns that emerge from the interactive controlled array.“

‘Eclipse’ will be on display in the Humanscale showroom from the 21st to the 23rd May.
