Sleek, High-Performance Task Chair Honored for Advanced Product Innovation

NEW YORK — Designed by Niels Diffrient, Humanscale’s Diffrient Smart task chair—which uses Form-Sensing Mesh Technology to provide custom lumbar support—has earned an iF gold award. Selected from 4,352 entries, Diffrient Smart is one of 75 products to earn the prestigious honor.

An international seal of outstanding design quality, the international Forum (iF) Product Design Awards have been honoring products since 1953. A German competition, the iF design awards identify current trends in design, while highlighting the economic benefits delivered by well-designed products. iF recognizes entries in three categories: product design, communication design and packaging design. Evaluated on a number of criteria such as design quality and ergonomics, the Diffrient Smart chair and the Float™ height-adjustable table earned iF product design awards for their advanced innovation. Honoring products for taking innovation to the next level, the iF gold award is a special recognition for the very best designs of all the winners of the iF product design award competition.

iF gold award winners were honored at an awards ceremony on February 22, 2013 at BMW Welt in Munich, Germany. As a gold award winner, Diffrient Smart will be prominently featured in the iF yearbook.
